Slovakia today announced that they have signed a contract with the US based Oshkosh for their JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle). In total Slovakia orders 160 units of the M1278 Heavy Gun Carrier variant. These will be armed with the M2A1 heavy machine gun installed into either a CROWS remote weapons station or a crewed turret.
The total value of the contract is stated to be close to 190 million USD (~170 million €) and delivery is expected to take place throughout 2025.
This order follows an earlier FMS approval by the USA for up to 192 JLTV in M1278A1/A2 Heavy Gun Carrier configuration.
